While we welcome the fact that Chris Davies has withdrawn as Conservative candidate for Ynys Môn, the fact that the Tories think that such a person would have made a good candidate on our Island is astonishing. Only three months ago Chris Davies was kicked out by voters in Brecon and Radnorshire because he had been convicted of making a false expenses claim by creating fake invoices. The fact that the Tories initially selected him as their candidate shows how little respect they have for our community. Their cuts have hit our services so badly, affecting everything from health and education to leisure centres and libraries. Then they wanted the people of Anglesey to vote for someone obviously unsuited to be an MP.
On the botched selection of Chris Davies as Conservative Candidate for Ynys Môn, Labour’s Mary Roberts said:
“Chris Davies was kicked out by the people of Brecon and Radnorshire.”
“It’s insulting to the people of Ynys Môn for the Conservatives to have considered parachuting him in as a Parliamentary candidate.”
“Unsurprisingly he’s been forced to withdraw. Anglesey deserves better than this”.
"This was an insult to the people of Ynys Môn and sums up the Tories attitude to our community" Mary Roberts, Labour's Parliamentary Candidate for Ynys Môn
